Last month, I was in Qatar, to meet with the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, His Excellency Al Sheikh Ahmedbin Abdullah Ghurab Al Marri.
The visit was organised by THF partner Qatar Charity, and we discussed the new initiatives of The Humanitarian Forum. The Minister was very supportive of the organisation's aims, believing strongly in increasing the capacity of CBOs and SCOs, to maximise the efficiency of funds.
Dr Hany El Banna is the president of The Humanitarian Forum, as well as the founder of Islamic Relief, Muslim Charities Forum, Zakat House and the International HIV Fund. He has visited the world's poorest and most vulnerable countries on behalf of these organisations and works tirelessly for those in need. On this blog you can find his own views on life and development.

September 2009 - Global Economic Symposium
The Global Economic Symposium (GES) exists to provide a forum for discussing some of the world's most pressing economic problems. This year, Dr Hany was one of a number of illustrious panellists, including Nobel Laureates, politicians and the CEOs of some of the world's largest companies. Session topics ranged from the environment, to poverty, to the global society. Dr Hany was on the panel for three talks: "Water: interactive partnerships", "Democracy and Development" and "The Social Divide".
